{"id":973,"date":"2019-01-08T18:44:00","date_gmt":"2019-01-08T17:44:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pafile.it\/2019\/01\/08\/do-you-know-how-to-build-a-low-consumption-house\/"},"modified":"2024-09-12T14:43:55","modified_gmt":"2024-09-12T12:43:55","slug":"do-you-know-how-to-build-a-low-consumption-house","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pafile.it\/en\/2019\/01\/08\/do-you-know-how-to-build-a-low-consumption-house\/","title":{"rendered":"Do you know how to build a low-consumption house?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>The energy consumption of buildings<\/strong><br\/>Some 80-85% of energy needs are met through the use of fossil fuels.\nBut the availability of these resources tends to be depleted, against an ever-increasing demand for energy, especially from emerging and developing countries.<br\/>This will inevitably lead to an unsustainable increase in prices, particularly for oil and its derivatives.\nFaced with an exponential rise in crude oil prices, the only viable alternatives will be:  <\/p>\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Use renewable energy sources;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Improving energy efficiency.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<p>Otherwise, it will be necessary for the most energy-hungry countries, to limit consumption or comfort levels.<\/p>\n\n<p>In addition to economic and social problems, there are also environmental ones:<br\/>the indiscriminate use of fossil fuels produces worrying ecological-environmental alterations on the planet, due to the intensification of the greenhouse effect;<br\/>the latter causes, in turn, an increase in the Earth&#8217;s average temperature, the so-called &#8220;global warming&#8221; altering the planet&#8217;s current climatic conditions and changing the volume of glaciers and oceans, with disastrous consequences for the world ecosystem.<br\/>Thus, the adoption of saving policies through natural insulation and alternative and sustainable energy sources has a twofold benefit:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>cope with the energy crisis due to the gradual depletion of fossil fuel reserves;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Avoid risks of environmental disasters.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Intervening on civilian consumption in terms of sustainability and efficiency is therefore numerically significant, especially in a scenario of continued growth in energy needs.<\/p>\n\n<p>It should be emphasized at this point that while in the commercial sector the greatest opportunities for savings are provided by improved energy management systems, for the residential sector the crucial issue is the choice of a proper building envelope solution.<\/p>\n\n<p>It is with this in mind that the benefits, in terms of energy savings of thermal comfort, that result from the use of massive brick envelopes, which are particularly advantageous in our Mediterranean climate, are examined.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Massive masonry and sustainable comfort<\/strong><br\/>As it turns out, residential energy consumption is steadily increasing.\nThis increase is largely due to the growing demand for summer cooling, which, according to EECCAC11 studies, will quadruple between 1990 and 2020. <\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.infobuildenergia.it\/Allegati\/1455.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p><em>Forecast of summer air conditioning energy demand in the EU15 (elaboration on EECCAC data, 2003).<\/em><\/p>\n\n<p>This is all the more true for a country with a mild climate such as Italy, in which summer peak demand for electricity already equaled winter peak demand in 2004 and then continued to grow, causing peak load problems (up to blackouts), as well as cost increases and imbalances in the energy balance.<\/p>\n\n<p>The limits provided for Transmittance and Massivity of masonry are not always sufficient to ensure adequate comfort, especially in hot summers.\nIn fact, these limits disregard the way in which vertical closures are layered, which today are generally made up of the juxtaposition of several materials, it must be considered that, not only the nature, but also the succession of layers is relevant to environmental well-being. <\/p>\n\n<p>It is for these reasons that building enclosures with natural-type insulation panels (such as those made of <strong>wood fiber<\/strong>) gives the right quality-efficiency-price ratio to achieve a viable high-efficiency energy-saving system.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The energy consumption of buildingsSome 80-85% of energy needs are met through the use of fossil fuels.
