A Heart made of “pure wood fiber” in Palermo’s Historic Center

The experience of efficient upgrading applied to quality architectural heritage.

In the beating heart of Palermo’s historic center, among alleys steeped in history and tradition, we had the unique opportunity to participate in a project that represents a perfect marriage of innovation and respect for the architectural heritage. Behind the majestic church of Santissimo Salvatore, in a hidden and fascinating corner of the city, our pure wood fiber insulation was used to upgrade the roof of a historic building.

This experience was extraordinary in many ways. Not only were we able to apply an advanced and sustainable technology such as our insulation, but we also had the opportunity to do so in a historic building context, where preservation of the original character of structures is paramount.

The project was particularly challenging, since the building, like many others in Palermo’s historic center, features ancient and delicate structures that require special attention and a sensitive approach. THERMO DRY pure wood fiber insulation proved to be the ideal choice for this context. Thanks to its natural composition and excellent insulating properties, it made it possible to improve the building’s energy efficiency without altering its exterior appearance or load-bearing structure.

The pure wood fiber made it possible to cut down the problem of high temperatures that accumulate in such settings with particularly sultry climate and high humidity rates typical of Mediterranean climates.
Regulates temperature, humidity and gives singular comfort especially to those who (under normal conditions) would have experienced with difficulty the rooms located on the top floors of the building.

Working in an environment so rich in history made us think about theimportance of innovating while respecting the past. Our Thermo Dry not only helps to create more comfortable and sustainable buildings, but does so while preserving the integrity of historic buildings. It was immensely satisfying to see how our product integrated harmoniously into such a unique and valuable context.

This project in Palermo’s historic center (expertly overseen by the firm Bruno Costruzioni , which kindly hosted us on site) demonstrates that it is possible to combine modernity with tradition, offering advanced technological solutions that respect the architectural heritage of our cities. We are proud to have contributed to this intervention, and we hope that it can be an inspiration for future redevelopments that respect the historical heritage.
